Volunteer Training for the Home Energy Challenge — Feb. 7th

When: Thursday, Feb. 7th

Goal: To provide Home Energy Challenge (HEC) volunteers with the information and knowledge they need to reach out to community members.

Participating Addison County towns: Bristol, Cornwall, Goshen, New Haven,  Middlebury, Monkton, Orwell, Starksboro and Weybridge

Agenda:

5:00 – 6:00: Dinner and Socializing

5:30 – 6:00: Meeting with Coordinators

6:00 – 6:30: Overview of the VT Home Energy Challenge

6:30 – 7:00: Building Science 101 (how homes lose heat and how to stop it)

7:00 – 7:20: Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program

7:20 – 7:40: Key Message to Community Members (talking points on how to sell it)

7:40- 8:15: Conducting Home Energy Visits

8:15 – 8:45: Conducting Door-to-Door/Phone-a-Thons – practicing your script

8:45 – 9:00 Logistical Issues and Adjourn

All volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend. If your community is planning on conducting home energy visits, training is required for all volunteers.
