Bristol Flats- New Haven River Floodplain Scoping

In 2023, ACRPC received a Clean Water Service Provider (CWSP) grant to conduct a flood mitigation scoping study of the New Haven River in Bristol, Vermont to evaluate risk, identify potential mitigation alternatives, and begin discussions on how to decrease risk in this dynamic river area. ACRPC contracted the engineering firm, SLR to conduct this project.

Field Work, November-December 2024

Field work by SLR will be starting Friday, November 22, with additional days in the following few weeks.

SLR will be starting field work this Friday, November 22, with multiple additional days in the following few weeks. This work will involve conduct a stream walk from upstream of Hewitt Road Bridge to the downstream Route 116 crossing to observe geomorphic conditions and noting locations of flood and erosion risk, including structures and berm locations. They will be performing field surveys with high accuracy GPS of wet channel cross sections and their work may involve unmanned aircraft system (UAS) photogrammetry
