Training: Flood Maps and Zoning Bylaws

| New Flood Maps and River Corridor Regulations Are Coming! Are your Zoning Bylaws Ready?The Special Flood Hazard Area in your municipal land use plan and zoning maps bylaws comes from floodplain maps that are produced and updated by FEMA. Addison County’s maps are being updated for the first time since the 1980’s, and are likely going to shift for your municipality. In addition, there are new requirements for specific language in your zoning bylaws that needs to be included so that residents can get insurance from the National Flood Insurance Program, and the town can qualify for Emergency Relief and Assistance Funding after disasters.
