Area Wide Planning for Brownfields

Area-Wide Planning (AWP) activities are used to develop community vision for multiple properties and targets areas for redevelopment, rather than examining properties independently. Working with Stantec, ACRPC produced an “Area Wide Plan” for the 3 areas included in the Transportation-Oriented Development (TOD):

For each of those areas, ACRPC and Stantec did an initial Brownfield Assessment of the parcels. For each area, properties were evaluated and mapped with Likely-Potential-Unlikely Brownfield scores based on a number of factors, including Environmental Records, Building Age, Historical Records, Vacancy, and other variables:

These scores and maps are not meant to indicate that an individual property is or is not a brownfield, but are meant to provide landowners and developers with tools for understanding the underlying factors that might require additional investigation.
